Building strength through balance
Pilates and balance go hand in hand with their positive effects on strength and coordination and that’s what this new 45min standing Pilates class is all about.
Standing Pilates is a weight-bearing form of exercise that strengthens bones by activating the muscles of the hips and legs. Improves posture by strengthening the muscles of the spine and trunk, as well as working on the lower body, especially the feet and ankles.
Standing Pilates incorporates shifting the weight of the body, focusing on exercises to improve & challenge your balance.
Resulting in better balance, coordination and proprioception (the ability to know where and how your body is oriented in the surrounding space)
Giving you the confidence to move more freely and reduce the fear of falling.
Suitable for all levels of fitness and ages.
Work in levels so everyone can go at their own pace.
We use walls for support if needed.
No getting up and down off the mat, just the ability to stand for 45min (although chairs can be provided on request if needed).
Standing Pilates is an ACC approved strength amd balance training program designed to prevent falls and fractures.
