Pilates, the mind-body connection
I love the way our mind works in sync with our body.
This is called Embodied Cognition, a fancy name for the mind-body connection which sends signals from the body to the brain and signals from the brain to the body.
The mind-body connection means that you can learn to use your thoughts to positively influence some of your body's physical responses, thereby decreasing stress and anxiety.
Stress and anxiety can build up in our muscles causing tension, but using proper breathing and stretching techniques we can improve bloodflow and reduce the amount of tension we hold in our bodies thus improving cognitive ability, physical wellbeing and sleep.
